Back to overview
Only words are permitted hat are listed in our dictionary. The english one is based on the current edition of the SOWPODS. Here are a few rules that are derived from the official Scrabble tournament rules:
Allowed:
- Verbs in all inflected forms
- Adjectives in all the declensions
- Nouns in all declensions
Not allowed:
- Any proper names (which involves first and last name, product names, cities, rivers, countries, etc.)
- Abbreviations
- Prefixes and suffixes
Sometimes this results in unusual inflections – go and check under collinslanguage.com, if you are uncertain about the admissibility of the word.
Otherwise, try a word: If it is accepted, perfect. But then remember to look what it is supposed to be – be a pirate and learn!
